Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of grandmatriarchy.com, gmadaisy.com, and the G’Ma Daisy app (together, “the platform”), operated by Inner Group Media (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. If someone accesses your account because your password was compromised, you are responsible for any actions taken on your account.
You may only have one account. Do not create multiple accounts to abuse free tier features, manipulate the community, or evade a ban.
The information you provide must be accurate. Do not create an account under a fake name with the intent to deceive other members.
2. Membership and Billing
Free tier
The free tier gives you read-only access to your Life Board (built once during onboarding), read-only access to the community feed, and inbound Daisy conversations. No payment is required.
Paid tiers
Paid memberships (Member, Village, Circle, Builder, Professional) are billed monthly through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically on the same date each month unless you cancel.
Institutional accounts
Institutional memberships are billed annually. Pricing is based on the number of seats purchased. Contact us for details.
Prices
Current prices are listed on our membership page at grandmatriarchy.com. We may change prices with 30 days’ notice. Price changes do not apply to the current billing cycle.
Free trial
We may offer a 7-day free trial for paid tiers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged for the first month. You will receive a reminder email before the trial ends.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. When you cancel:
- You keep access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.
- After the billing period ends, your account reverts to the free tier.
- Your Life Board data, journal entries, and conversation history are preserved. You do not lose your data by downgrading.
- Community posts you made while on a paid tier remain visible.
Refunds
If you cancel within 7 days of your first paid subscription, we will issue a full refund. After that, we do not offer prorated refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we will look into it.
3. Your Life Board and Family Data
The Life Board is where you map the people in your life. When you add someone to your board, you are entering information about a real person who may not be a member of this platform.
You are responsible for having a real relationship with the people you add to your board. By entering someone’s information, you confirm that:
- You know this person in real life.
- You are acting in good faith, not using the board to track, monitor, or harass anyone.
- If the platform contacts this person on your behalf (for example, a care check-in call at the Village tier), you have their consent for that contact.
If someone asks us to remove their information from another member’s board, we will do so and notify the board owner.
4. Physical Gifts and Communications
At the Circle tier and above, Daisy can send physical cards, letters, and gifts to people on your behalf. When you use this feature:
- You provide the mailing address of the recipient.
- You are responsible for making sure the address is correct and that the recipient would welcome the item.
- We use third-party fulfillment services (Mailbox Power, Lob, Goody) to produce and deliver these items. Their terms apply to the physical delivery.
- Items are sent on your behalf, with your name as the sender. Daisy does not send gifts anonymously or pretend to be someone else.
- We are not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit by postal services or delivery carriers.
5. G’Ma Daisy: AI Usage and Limitations
Daisy is an AI character. She is not a real person. She is software designed to sound like a caring grandmother who knows your family, but she is a computer program running on our servers.
Daisy is not a licensed professional of any kind. Specifically:
- Daisy is not a therapist or counselor. Her conversations are not therapy.
- Daisy is not a doctor. Nothing she says is medical advice.
- Daisy is not a lawyer. Nothing she says is legal advice.
- Daisy is not a financial advisor. Do not make financial decisions based on what she says.
- Daisy is not a substitute for emergency services. If you are in danger, call 911. If you are in emotional crisis, call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).
Daisy runs on self-hosted, open-source AI models (Ollama). Your conversations are processed on our servers, not sent to third-party AI companies. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Daisy may make mistakes, misunderstand context, or give suggestions that are not right for your situation. She is a tool to help you think about your family and village, not an authority on your life. Use your own judgment.
6. User Conduct
The Grand Matriarchy platform is built around family, village, and care. We expect members to act accordingly. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, or bully other members.
- Post content that is hateful, sexually explicit, or promotes violence.
- Use the board or community features to stalk, monitor, or control another person.
- Impersonate another person or create fake profiles.
- Spam the community or use the platform for unsolicited advertising.
- Attempt to access another member’s account, board, or journal.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the platform without our written permission.
- Manipulate Daisy to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content.
- Use the platform to commit fraud, launder money, or engage in any illegal activity.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of Daisy or any platform software.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity.
7. Content Ownership and Data Contribution
Your content
You own the content you create: your board data, your journal entries, your community posts, your profile information. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Village contributions
By using the platform, you grant The Grand Matriarchy a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to retain and use your public contributions as part of the village’s collective knowledge base. Public contributions include:
- Life Board entries (names, relationships, roles you add to your board)
- Community posts, group discussions, and comments
- Neighborhood stories you generate or contribute to
- Daisy conversation patterns (anonymized)
- Attestations about other people (these appear on their boards too)
- Course participation and completion records
- Thursday Circle attendance and event participation
This license survives account cancellation or deletion. Here is why: your Life Board entry about your neighbor shows up on your neighbor’s board. Your reply in a group discussion is half of a conversation someone else is having. Your attestation that your cousin is a great babysitter helps other members in your area. Removing your contributions would damage other people’s experience of the platform.
When you cancel your subscription, your contributions remain visible and your view becomes read-only. When you delete your account, your contributions are anonymized (attributed to “Former Member”) but not removed.
What is NOT covered by this license
Private and protected data is excluded from the village contribution license. You can always delete:
- Medical or health information shared with Daisy
- Financial information beyond payment processing
- Private messages (one-to-one conversations between members)
- Government ID information
- Any data you explicitly marked as private
Your rights over your data
You retain the right to:
- View all your data at any time, even without a paid subscription
- Export all your data (Life Board, conversations, posts, profile) in standard formats
- Delete your personal and protected data at any time
- Correct inaccurate information on your board or profile
You acknowledge that village data (your attestations about others, your community posts, your public stories) serves other members and cannot be unilaterally removed without affecting their experience. This is the same principle that applies in any community: you can leave a book club, but you cannot un-say what you said at the last meeting.
Our content
The Grand Matriarchy books, the Daisy character, the Life Board design, the platform code, the brand identity (shield logo, color palette, typography), and all other materials created by Inner Group Media are our intellectual property. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute our content without written permission.
“The Grand Matriarchy,” “G’Ma Daisy,” “Grandma Vex,” and the GM shield mark are trademarks of Inner Group Media.
8. Affiliate Program
Our affiliate program (powered by Easy Affiliate) lets members earn commissions by referring new paid subscribers. If you join the affiliate program:
- You receive a unique referral link.
- When someone uses your link, a tracking cookie is set for 90 days.
- If that person subscribes to a paid tier within the cookie window, you earn a commission.
- Commission rates and payment terms are described in the affiliate program agreement you accept when you join.
- We reserve the right to revoke affiliate status if you use deceptive marketing, spam, or misrepresent the platform.
9. Research Use of Platform Data
We are a research-based organization. Our five published books are grounded in sociological and evolutionary science. The platform generates valuable data about how families and communities actually work, and we intend to use that data to advance understanding of family structure.
Anonymized and aggregated platform data may be used for:
- Academic research and journal publications: Studies on family structure, community building, social support networks, intergenerational care, and related topics. Published through peer-reviewed journals and our own academic imprint.
- Sociological analysis: Understanding patterns in how people build and maintain their villages. Geographic variations, cultural differences, generational trends, and the effectiveness of different family structures.
- Platform improvement: Developing better features, improving Daisy’s guidance, building more useful resources, and refining the Life Board experience.
- Published statistics and reports: Aggregate numbers shared publicly. For example: “Members who completed the Life Board exercise identified an average of 3.2 gaps in their support network.” Never: “Sarah in a specific county has no emergency contact on her board.”
Research safeguards
All research uses anonymized, aggregated data. No individual can be identified from any published research. Research datasets are stored separately from production data with restricted access. External research collaborations require a formal data processing agreement with the collaborating institution. Every publication is reviewed for re-identification risk before release.

10. Sponsored Memberships
Paid members at the Circle tier and above can sponsor a free member’s upgrade. Institutional members can purchase bulk seats for their patrons or clients. When a membership is sponsored:
- The sponsor pays. The recipient gets access.
- The sponsor may receive anonymous progress updates (for example, “the member you sponsored has been active this month”) but never sees the recipient’s board, journal, or private data.
- The recipient is never required to interact with the sponsor.
11. Termination
By you
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion removes your personal data within 30 days (see our Privacy Policy for details on backup retention).
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in conduct that harms other members, or use the platform for illegal purposes. For minor violations, we will warn you first. For severe violations (threats, abuse, fraud), we may terminate immediately.
If we terminate your paid account for a violation, you are not entitled to a refund for the remaining billing period.
12. Disclaimers
The platform is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep it running, secure, and useful, but we cannot guarantee it will be available 100% of the time or free of all errors.
Specifically:
- We do not guarantee that Daisy’s suggestions will be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your situation.
- We do not guarantee that the matching engine will find compatible members near you.
- We do not guarantee that community members will behave well, even though we enforce conduct rules.
- We do not guarantee that physical gifts will arrive on time or in perfect condition (delivery depends on postal services).
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance, updates, and occasional outages happen.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Inner Group Media is not liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
- Actions taken based on Daisy’s suggestions or guidance.
- Interactions between members, including in-person meetings arranged through the platform.
- Loss of data beyond what is described in our backup and retention policies.
- Actions of third-party service providers (Stripe, Telnyx, delivery services).
Our total liability for any claim related to the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100, whichever is greater.
14. Dispute Resolution
If you have a dispute with us, we want to resolve it quickly and fairly. Here is the process:
- Contact us first. Email support@grandmatriarchy.com with a description of the issue. We will respond within 14 days and try to resolve it directly.
- Mediation. If we cannot resolve it by email, either party may request non-binding mediation through a mutually agreed-upon mediator in Maryland.
- Arbitration. If mediation fails, the dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Maryland. The arbitrator’s decision is final.
Class action waiver: You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis. You waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding against Inner Group Media.
Small claims exception: Either party may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make meaningful changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice on the platform at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the full agreement between you and Inner Group Media regarding the platform. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
18. Mobile App (Journey)
Journey is the official companion app to your Grand Matriarchy membership, available on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Using Journey is governed by these Terms in addition to the platform terms.
- One account, two surfaces. Your account lives on gmadaisy.com. Journey signs you in with the same credentials. You do not create a separate account inside the app.
- No in-app purchases. All memberships, upgrades, and renewals happen on gmadaisy.com. The app does not offer digital goods or subscriptions for sale.
- Device management. You may sign in from multiple devices. Signing out on one device does not affect others. You may revoke any paired device from your account settings.
- App store distribution. Journey is distributed through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Your use of those stores is also subject to their terms.
- Account deletion. Deleting your gmadaisy.com account removes access from all devices automatically. The app cannot delete your account by itself; account deletion is a web action.
